Coast Wrestling Academy has the greatest impact on a athlete development through selection and participation in its Full-Time Program, geared towards players aged 10 - 17yrs old. Wrestlers entering into the Academy have a passion for wrestling and are serious about their development as competitive wrestlers.Players entering into the Academy are expected to commit to training at the highest level. Likewise, parents of Full-Time CW Academy athletes are expected to understand and be in support of the Academy’s objectives for their child. It is important to recognize that wrestlers and parents must invest significant time and resources into their child’s training schedule. In return, you can expect that Academy will provide an environment that will maximize each athlete's potential to compete at the highest levels of wrestling.
The primary goal of Coast Wrestling Academy, especially at the youth ages (under 12 years old) is the long-term development of each player. We do not select wrestlers simply for the purpose of building teams, entering competitions, or travelling to tournaments. CW Academy athletes participate in competition solely for the purpose of gaining competetion experience as part of their overall development.Competition and the desire to “win” is incredibly important, and is encouraged at every phase throughout CW Academy wrestlers’ development. However, this not the “winning at all cost” approach that many teams, coaches and parents expect from their child’s participation in youth sports.
Pre-Academy trains in three three-month long training modules each season. Full-time Academy trains 2 x week with regular local and inter-academy competitions.
Module I: September 4 – December 20
